How hiring from India works
- The employer sends the agency a demand letter, usually with a power of attorney, naming the jobs, how many workers and the pay. Write one on Staffio
- The agency finds and screens candidates; many employers hold a trade test or video interview.
- Each worker gets the offer and contract in a language they understand, and signs it before anything else is paid for. Write one on Staffio
- The employer applies for the UAE work and entry permits.
- Workers with an ECR passport need emigration clearance through eMigrate before they fly. ECNR passport holders do not.
- Travel. On arrival: medical test, Emirates ID and residence visa, arranged by the employer.

From each worker
- Passport — Valid well beyond the contract start; most employers ask for at least six months.
- Passport photos
- Signed offer letter or contract — In a language the worker reads.
- Emigration clearance — ECR passports only, through eMigrate.
- Trade certificates or experience letters — Often asked for skilled trades.
- Police clearance certificate — Asked by some employers and for some jobs.

Rules to know
- An Indian agency recruiting for jobs abroad must hold a registration from the Ministry of External Affairs. Check the number and its validity on eMigrate before you sign anything.
- Indian rules limit what a registered agency may charge a worker. Check the current limit on eMigrate; do not rely on a figure someone quotes you.
- UAE labour law does not allow employers or agencies to charge workers recruitment fees or costs.
- Workers with ECR passports travelling to the UAE for work need emigration clearance; flying without it can stop them at the airport.
- India has set minimum referral wages for some jobs in Gulf countries. Ask the agency for the current figure for your jobs.
- Keep the worker's passport with the worker. Holding it is not allowed.
